Fürth says goodbye with defeat

The SpVgg Greuther Fürth said goodbye to the Bundesliga without a away win. The cloverleaf also lost 1-2 (1: 1) on the last match day at FC Augsburg.

The FCA, which had secured the relegation last week in the eleventh year in a row, took the lead in a torn game by Daniel Caligiuri (11th). He converted a penalty. Jessic Ngankam (24th) equalized. Michael Gregoritsch (84th) ensured the 2: 1. The relegated team remained without a win twelve times.

Fürth had to do without coach Stefan Leitl because of a corona infection. For the first time, assistant coach Andre Mijatovic was responsible for him.

From the couch, Leitl, who switched to second division Hannover 96 in summer, saw a superior FCA. It also took the lead early after Tobias Raschl Andre Hahn brought down in the penalty area.

FCA fans cause trouble

Augsburg seemed to have everything under control in front of 27,907 spectators, but after a ball loss from Niklas Dorsch, Ngankam took the first chance of the Franconia for his second Bundesligator.

Then the game rippled. However, there was bad news for the FCA: Dorsch had to be carried off the pitch after a good half an hour with a broken collarbone.

Shortly after the break, the game had to be interrupted after the FCA fans had ignited smoke bombs. When the haze moved, the spectators continued to see little. The FCA was even lucky when Hahn clarified on the line (65th). Almost out of nowhere Gregoritsch then managed his ninth goal of the season.
