Review of the Wolverine V2 Chroma Controller

It had been a long time since I used a joystick, for any console, it was not the norm. I am a big fan of Razer and their wide variety of game accessories, so try the brand new Wolverine V2 Chroma controller seemed obvious. Not only does it look fantastic, but it feels and works just as well. So, what does it bring exactly to your gaming experience? Let s find out.

As soon as the box out, you will notice that the Wolverine V2 Chroma is designed for all players, but specifically for those who want all the features of an Elite controller without spending 200 USD. It s a crazy light (half a book), adapts perfectly to my hand, is incredibly comfortable with quality rubber handles. The Wolverine V2 Chroma levers are slightly more removed than standard or even elite controllers. The Menu and Display buttons are also at a different location from that of the Standard Xbox controller - both are now diagonally and close to the top of the controller, one on each side. Although I did not find that it caused problems during the game, it deserves to be mentioned. In fact, I spent hours using the Wolverine V2 Chroma without feeling cramps with hands or fatigue and I like this location of the Menu and Display buttons.

There are also 6 remappable multifunction buttons on the Wolverine V2 Chroma, two at the top next to the triggers / bumper and 4 in the back. Although I appreciate them and I have large enough hands to comfortably hold the controller without having to reach one of the extra buttons, it will certainly not fly for smaller hands players. In fact, they will probably feel some discomfort when trying to use the 2 bottom rear buttons. Unfortunately, these 2 do not seem to be at the best place to facilitate access. The 4 other buttons should, however, be a welcome addition, and as long as you remember what everyone is programmed, they are really useful. It s even more true when playing on PC.

The Wolverine V2 Chroma also has trip stops, so if you are a fan of first person shooting games, get ready for faster shooting performance. And if you are still looking for more strategic advantage over the competition, the Wolverine V2 Chroma also offers interchangeable analog sticks. They are not fragile either. These magnetic handle caps fit into the grooves and do not come off easily or do not fall. You will not even need to buy it right now because it comes with 2 extra in the box. Concave analog sticks for speed - offensive, and regular players for more precision - elite shooters and defensive players. Just do a little research on what is best for your gameplay and trample everyone. Seriously, it s crazy what difference these additions can do. I found the easier and more rewarding FPS titles to play than on PS4 / PS5 and I think it has a lot to do with these interchangeable controllable controls and these trigger locks.

If you start clicking anything - because other with a brand new controller - get ready for an Eargasm. Especially if you are regularly a PC player. The action buttons (A, B, X and Y), as well as the D-PAD have all the Mecha-touch technology of Razer. Razer says it s the same thing as their mice and that it should provide a hyper reactive actuation that gives you an advantage over competition. I can not say that I really noticed a difference from my other Xbox controllers, but what is more than noticeable is how to the buttons and the D-pad are clickable. The clicks are stronger than the normal Xbox controller, but it s really satisfying.

The Wolverine V2 Chroma is a wired controller, you will need to connect the USB-C cord of 3 m (9.8 ft) that accompanies it to play. I would have liked that there is an option to play wireless, with the associated price here, but it is not the end of the world because the cord is more than enough long to not cause real problems. The cord, unlike the Wolverine V2 controller, is also detachable, so tidy this new joystick will be a breeze. And on the positive side, there is also no problem with battery life here.

However, I have encountered a problem where the controller did not automatically connect to my Xbox right away. I needed to download the Razer controller for the Xbox application on my PC and plug the controller on my computer. After he showed that he was connected, I simply reconnected to my Xbox and I was ready to go. Considering that this is the application you need to change anything about the Wolverine V2 Chroma, it did not seem to be a big disadvantage. It certainly not the first experience I was hoping and fortunately, it was a fairly fast solution.

Everything has been forgiven as soon as I plugged the Wolverine V2 Chroma. It s crazy sexy. This may seem strange to describe a controller this way, but it s true. RGB lighting really attracts you. Much more elegant than the previous Wolverine Ultimate too. And yes, he will enlighten the entire room. If you do not like that, you can tarnish the light and configure how you want the colors to change (if applicable) with the RAZER application. The application allows complete customization of the controller, including the intensity of the vibration, the sensitivity of the controller and the configuration of the 6 buttons mapping to your specific play style. Now, I know that everyone will not be happy to have to use an application to customize his joystick, but I like to have the opportunity to do it. I most often set the controller on the Breath RGB lighting setting because it matches my mouse pad and aesthetics is very nice.

Overall, the Wolverine V2 Chroma is well designed, with comfort and customization in mind. I like both with regard to any game accessory and it is easy to become my choice controller for the Xbox and the PC in the future. It will be a real challenge to find something better that does not cost an arm and leg. I think the Wolverine V2 Chroma actually gives a good value for the Xbox Elite Series 2. It s $ 50 cheaper ($ 149.99 USD) with many of the same features and RGB lighting . This is a good deal if you are more than an occasional player seeking to improve your gaming experience. If you are serious about the game and you are not trying to spend 200 USD for a new Pro controller, then the Wolverine V2 Chroma is what you should have in sight. There are only 2 reasons why you might not take this joystick because it s more difficult to justify: 1) You do not play often or 2) you have smaller hands than average.
