OUTRIDERS DEV has not yet obtained royalties for the game

Developers behind Outriders, People Can Fly, have yet received no royalty for their game. This suggests that the title has not been profitable yet despite the millions of people who played it.

This has been announced on the developer's investor website and highlights the CAN FLY People Agreement with Square Enix. Since no funds have been transferred yet, People Can Fly suggests:

_ According to the publisher, the income from the sale of the game are less than the total costs of its production (including quality assurance), its distribution and its promotion.

The director of People Can Fly, Sebastian Wojciechowski (according to a machine translation) said:

_ We do not have any sales figures for Outriders - we estimates between 2 and 3 million units and suppose that it is a result that would ensure the profitability of this project in the first quarter of sales. The absence of payment by the publisher probably means that, according to Square Enix, it is not the case.

Wojciechowski believes that some outflows that are not profitable could be linked to offers like Game Pass. He also thinks that Square Enix is possible spent more money to market the game than expected. However, it seems strange that 2-3 million sales are not profitable for a small budget game as Outriders.

People Can Fly still works on Outriders and has games in preparation for Square Enix and Take-Two, as well as a third game they develop internally. It seems that Wojciechowski is not a fan of not being paid and not knowing why. I can not say that I blame it.

I hope the best for People Can Fly, and I'm grateful that they can not be paid for so long. They are currently expecting to be paid later this year, and they seem eager to continue working on Outriders despite this mess.
